Immadi Ravi, 39-year-old owner of piracy website iBomma which brought ₹20 crore in revenue, is currently in custody for 14 days after getting arrested on November 14. After initially working in tech sector, he switched to hosting piracy websites around 2019. Married in 2016, Ravi switched to illegal path following humiliation and harassment by ex-wife and in-laws, reported Deccan Chronicle.

Samajwadi Party MLA Sudhakar Singh passes away

Samajwadi Party MLA Sudhakar Singh, who represented the Ghosi assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district, died early Thursday at a hospital in Lucknow. His son said he had been unwell for several days, and his condition deteriorated sharply. Reliance halts buying Russian oil for export-only refinery in Jamnagar over US sanctions

Reliance Industries halted Russian crude oil purchased for processing at its 'export-only' refinery in Gujarat's Jamnagar from November 20, a company spokesperson announced on Thursday. The company will instead use non-Russian oil for the refinery amid sanctions imposed by the EU and the US over the Russia-Ukraine war. Only numbers starting with '1600' to be used for promotional calls by banks, NBFCs: Govt

Telecom regulator TRAI mandated that all mutual funds companies, AMCs, banks, non-banking financial institutions and pension fund managers use numbers beginning with '1600' for calling customers. It has set January 1 as deadline for banks, February 1 for large NBFCs, March 1 for remaining NBFCs and rural banks and February 15 for AMCs. For stockbrokers, the deadline is March 15.

Why are some cheques signed on the back?

According to RBI regulations, a signature is necessary only on the backside of bearer cheques, News18 reported. Since they don't mention a payee’s name, the bank cannot confirm if the bearer of the cheque received it legitimately or stole it. Signing assures the bank that the cheque reached the rightful recipient, and they create an official record of the transaction.
