Curaçao, with population of 1.5 lakh, becomes smallest nation to qualify for FIFA World Cup

Curaçao has become the smallest-ever country to qualify for FIFA World Cup after holding on to a 0-0 draw against Jamaica on last day of CONCACAF FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The island nation, located in the Caribbean, has a population of just 1,56,115 people. Iceland held the previous record, qualifying in 2018 with a population of just over 3,50,000.

How did a letter written in broken English lead to installation of toilets in Railways?

It's believed that a complaint in 1909 led to toilets' installation in Indian trains, Moneycontrol reported. A man, Okhil Chandra Sen, wrote a letter to Railways, saying he missed his train after getting down to relieve himself. "I am running with ‘lotah’ in one hand and ‘dhoti’ in...next," he wrote in broken English. Subsequently, toilets were installed in lower-class carriages.

A 47-year-old nurse in UK passed away due to cardiac arrest just three days after doctors misdiagnosed her heart attack as indigestion. Gold prices rebound in India, silver ends 3-day losing streak

US approves ₹823-crore defence deals with India

US on Wednesday approved the sale of two key tranches of military equipment with a combined value of $93 million (over ₹823 crore) for India. US' Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said India will receive Javelin Missile System and Excalibur Projectiles along with other related equipment. DSCA said the deals would improve India's capability to counter current and future threats.
