A 33-year-old, 8-months-pregnant Indian-origin IT systems analyst was killed after being hit by a car in Australia. Samanvitha Dhareshwar was walking with her husband and son when the incident occurred. Investigators said a car had slowed down to allow them to cross when it was struck by BMW driven by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu. The impact pushed it forward, hitting Dhareshwar.

World's largest modern crater discovered in China

Scientists have discovered an impact crater in southern China, unusually large for modern times. The Jinlin crater, measuring between 820 and 900 metres wide and around 90 metres deep, is the largest known Holocene-era crater. It remained well-preserved despite the monsoon-prone, humid landscape. Quartz grains found in the crater confirmed it was created by a meteorite strike.
