Cabinet approves 3% DA hike for central govt employees, pensioners

The Union Cabinet has cleared a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners, weeks ahead of Diwali. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during a Cabinet briefing, said that it will be effective from July 1 2025, adding that it will benefit around 49.2 lakh employees. DA/DR hike will now be 58% of basic pay.

Scientists create embryos using human skin cells in fertility breakthrough

Scientists have developed early-stage embryos by using human skin cells to make functional eggs in a breakthrough for infertility treatments. For the proof-of-concept study, published in Nature Communications, the nucleus of the skin cell was transplanted into a donor egg, which was stripped of its own nucleus. The 82 oocytes produced were then fertilised with sperm via IVF, researchers said.

USA Cricket (USAC) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, just before its scheduled preliminary-injunction hearing in its dispute with American Cricket Enterprises (ACE).
