A study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition revealed that vitamin D supplements may slow biological ageing by preserving the length of telomeres. Telomeres are the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes that shorten during ageing. The study also found that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation had no significant effect on telomere length.
