Mumbai to get 2 more ring roads as MMRDA expands proposed network from 7 to 9

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning two additional ring routes, expanding its proposed network from seven to nine. The two rings will together cover about 307 km, but MMRDA won't build 307 km of new roads; instead, the routes will link existing roads. The eighth ring will span 197 km, while the ninth will cover 110 km.

Bus carrying people rescued from Nepal flash flood crashes

A bus carrying people rescued from the deadly Nepal flash flood in Rasuwa crashed in Danda, east of Nawalparasi, according to the country's National News Committee. The bus was reportedly travelling from the capital Kathmandu to Bardiya. A BBC news report added that 32 of the 38 passengers in the bus were injured.

The Delhi Tamil Advocates Association has urged Chief Justice Surya Kant to help trace ex-Madras High Court judge and Supreme Court Senior Advocate V Sivagnanam, who has reportedly gone missing in Nepal following floods. The association said Sivagnanam was travelling with Tamil pilgrims and last contacted his wife on August 26. The death toll from the floods reportedly crossed 780.

Govt mandates use of IST as time reference, to be implemented in 180 days

Shimla-Kalka toy train service hit after hill slip; 400+ passengers rescued

Toy train services on Kalka-Shimla route were disrupted after a hill slip between Koti and Gumman stations. At least 391 passengers and 40 railway staff were evacuated.
