Scientists uncovered an "internet of the forest" in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, where birds and monkeys use and respond to each other's alarm calls to warn of predators. Why does Assam flood every year?

Nearly 40% of Assam is flood-prone as it lies in the floodplain of the Brahmaputra, one of the world's highest sediment-carrying rivers. Silt deposits reduce the river's capacity to hold water, making overflows driven by heavy monsoon rain an annual occurrence. Deforestation and climate change also contribute.
