Train collides with school van in West Bengal's Murshidabad, 3 students killed

Three students were killed after a train collided with their school van at a level crossing in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Friday. 49 years after murder, SC acquits UP man who has served life term

The Supreme Court, calling the prosecution's story doubtful, acquitted UP's Hiral Lal and two others in connection with a murder that took place in 1977. Raj Bux and Subedar were granted bail in 2013 but Lal's bail plea was rejected as prosecution called him the main accused. Lal has already served life sentence, remitted by UP government.

India among top countries for Hormuz transit requests

India had one of the highest shares of vessel transit requests through Iran-recommended Strait of Hormuz routes since June 17. For vessels entering Persian Gulf, India accounted for 21% of requests, while China accounted for 19%. For vessels exiting the Gulf, India had 20% of transit requests, second only to China at 21%, while other Asian destinations accounted for 29%.

PM Narendra Modi flagged off India's first hydrogen-powered train from Jind Railway Station in Haryana on Friday. The indigenously developed train will operate on the 89-km Jind-Sonipat route.
