Govt issues clarification for car drivers after launching petrol with 85% ethanol

Petroleum Ministry issued a clarification after Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched E85 fuel, or petrol blended with 85% ethanol, at a fuel pump in Delhi. "E85 is a high-ethanol blended fuel...specifically designed for use in flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs). The initiative aims to facilitate adoption of FFVs," the ministry said. "FFVs...are capable of operating on E20-E100 ethanol blends," it added.

19-year-old Mirra Andreeva becomes youngest French Open champion in 34 years, gets ₹31 crore

World number eight Mirra Andreeva of Russia defeated world number 114 Maja Chwalinska of Poland in Roland Garros 2026 final on Saturday to win her maiden Grand Slam title. India's Russian oil imports hit 11-month high of 38% in April

Russia's share in the value of India's oil imports jumped to an 11-month high of 37.7% in April 2026. India paid Russia $864.9/ton for its oil, while it paid $787.1/ton overall for imports from all countries. India paid a premium of $77.8/ton to Russia in April, up 425% from March 2026, after the West Asia crisis pushed oil prices up.

Indians continue paying lowest cooking gas prices, list shows rates in other countries

Indian households are continuing to pay the lowest prices for cooking gas among neighbouring countries, and far lower than prices in advanced economies. The 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder now costs ₹942 in Delhi, while it costs ₹1,046 in Pakistan, ₹1,207 in Nepal, ₹1,225 in Bangladesh and ₹1,241 in Sri Lanka. In US, the cylinder costs ₹1,755 and ₹2,411 in Canada.
