Dhanendra Kumar, ex-IAS officer & 1st CCI chief, dies in AC blast at Delhi home

Dhanendra Kumar, a retired IAS officer and the first Chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), died in a fire after a suspected AC blast at his home in Delhi's Hauz Khas. The 80-year-old's son sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment, officials said. Police and crime teams said no foul play has been suspected in the incident.

Indian researchers solve 70-year-old chemistry puzzle

Indian researchers at IIT Madras and IISc Bengaluru have synthesised a carbon-free molecule mimicking ferrocene's iconic "sandwich" structure, a problem that remained unsolved for over 70 years. The new molecule replaces ferrocene's iron-carbon architecture with osmium at the centre, flanked by two boron-based rings. The discovery has been reported in Science journal.

14-yr-old Indian-origin Shrey Parikh wins US Spelling Bee, gets ₹50 lakh
