Delhi records hottest day of the season on Monday

Delhi witnessed the hottest day of the season on Monday, with the base Safdarjung station recording a maximum temperature of 43.4°C, Ridge at 44.6°C, and Ayanagar at 44.4°C. Monday was also the hottest day in May in two years. IMD has issued a yellow heatwave alert as temperatures are expected to remain between 43 and 45°C in the upcoming days.

UP saw 17,043 encounters since Yogi Adityanath became CM in 2017

The Uttar Pradesh government said that since Yogi Adityanath took office in 2017, the state has witnessed 17,043 police encounters, including the killing of 289 “hardened criminals”. It added that 18 police personnel lost their lives during these operations. Meerut zone recorded the highest encounter deaths at 97, followed by Varanasi with 29, Agra 24, Bareilly 21 and Lucknow 20.
