Watermelon prices drop to ₹5/kg in Navi Mumbai after death of family of 4

Prices of watermelons have dropped to as low as ₹5 to ₹7/kg in Navi Mumbai after demand fell drastically due to deaths of a family of four after consuming the fruit. The fruit is usually sold at wholesale rates of ₹10-35 per kg, while the retail prices range between ₹30-100 per kg, reported NDTV. Traders are reporting heavy losses.

Bengal records 89.99% voter turnout till 5 pm in phase 2 polling, crosses 2021 record of 80.4%

West Bengal recorded a voter turnout of 89.99% till 5 pm in the second phase of voting, surpassing the 80.4% turnout recorded for the same 142 seats in the 2021 Assembly polls. With an hour still left before polling stations close, officials said the figure could rise further. In the first phase, the state recorded a voter turnout of 93.19%.
