2nd maternity leave within 2 yrs can't be denied: Allahabad HC

Allahabad High Court ruled that maternity leave cannot be denied merely because it is sought within two years of the first leave. The state government told the petitioner that under financial handbook, a minimum two-year gap between maternity leaves is mandatory. But the court said Maternity Benefit Act, enacted by Parliament, would prevail over such executive instructions or financial handbook.

Leaked docs show which roles will be hit by 1,700 layoffs at Europe's largest firm

ASML, Europe's largest firm by market capitalisation, plans to cut a wide range of management roles, Business Insider reported, citing leaked documents. ASML said in January that it would cut 1,700 jobs. Management roles, including department manager, group leader and chief product owner, may cease to exist under the proposed structure. ASML is also planning a six-week summer recruitment freeze.

'Lazy' US Army chemist wore Crocs to handle nerve agent, died later: US Military nuclear chief

US military's Chemical Nuclear Surety chief Andrew Hugg told an undercover journalist that a US Army chemist died after being exposed to Sarin, a nerve agent that US said it had destroyed in 2023. "[The chemist] wore Crocs and got lazy," Hugg said, adding that the chemist "didn't like" wearing protective gear. The Sarin soaked through her skin, he said.

Iran has executed a man convicted of spying for Israel’s Mossad, the judiciary's ​news outlet Mizan reported ⁠on Wednesday.
