Massive fire erupts in Ghaziabad slums, nearly 200 huts gutted

A massive fire broke out in Ghaziabad's Kanmani village area on Thursday, gutting nearly 200 slum huts. Locals immediately alerted the fire department, following which 22 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire spread within minutes as many of the huts contained plastic sheets, wood, and highly flammable materials. Several LPG cylinders also exploded, reports said.

Indian woman living in US for 35 years held by ICE for deportation

A 53-year-old Indian-origin woman, Meenu Batra, who has lived in the US for over 35 years, has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Texas. Her son enlisted in the US Army a few months ago. Batra, a licensed court interpreter in Texas for Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu, was arrested by plainclothes ICE agents on March 17.

The PNR on Railway tickets stands for Passenger Name Record and is a unique 10-digit number. The first three digits help the system identify the origin of the booking, whether it is from Northern, Western, Southern, or other zones. If PNR starts with 6, ticket was generated in the Northeast Frontier Railway. The last seven digits are system-generated sequential numbers.

GRAP-1 curbs imposed in Delhi-NCR amid poor air quality

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) imposed the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage-I restrictions across Delhi-NCR on Thursday after air quality deteriorated in the national capital. More than half of content on internet now written by AI, up from 0 when ChatGPT was launched

More than half of the newly published online content since the beginning of January 2025 was generated by AI, revealed Stanford's AI Index Report 2026. AI-written content has surged to 51.72% in 2025, up from zero in November 2022 when ChatGPT was launched.
