Telangana govt releases caste survey; backward classes largest group at 46.25%
Telangana government released findings of its 2024-25 caste survey covering about 3.55 crore people. Backward Classes emerged as the largest segment at 46.25%, followed by Scheduled Castes (SC) at 17.43% and Scheduled Tribes (ST) at 10.45%. Total Muslim population stands at 12.56%, of which 10.08% are Muslim Backward Classes and 2.48% are other Muslim classes. Other Castes stand at 13.31%.
