Indian tanker 'Jag Laadki' was loading oil when UAE port was attacked, now enroute to India: Govt

The Indian-flag vessel 'Jag Laadki' was loading crude at UAE's Fujairah Single Point Mooring on Saturday when the oil terminal was attacked, the government said on Sunday. "The vessel sailed safely from Fujairah...today and is bound for India," the government noted. This will be the third Indian-flag ship to safely cross the Strait of Hormuz amid the Iran war.

US' 'forced labour' probe may target India's electronics exports: GTRI

India's exports of solar panels, electronics and garments to the US could face closer scrutiny under Washington's "forced labour" probe targeting India and 59 other economies, think tank GTRI said. Although India bans forced labour, it may face scrutiny as many export sectors rely on intermediate inputs imported from China, it added. Beijing has faced allegations of using forced labour.

Abandoning thorium as energy source would be suicidal for India, warns scientist

Former Atomic Energy Commission chief Dr Anil Kakodkar warned that abandoning thorium as an energy source would be "suicidal" for India, given its vast thorium reserves and limited uranium and oil resources. "To say 'no thorium' is effectively to say 'no developed India'," he added. "To say...that thorium is too difficult and therefore should be abandoned is uncharitable," Kakodkar stated.

17.4 cr people will vote in state polls, equal to Aus, France & SA's population: CEC

CEC Gyanesh Kumar on Sunday said 17.4 crore people will vote in the elections which will take place in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and bypolls for eight constituencies.
