Amazon Web Services partners with Cerebras to boost AI inference

Amazon Web Services (AWS) partnered with Cerebras Systems to accelerate AI inference speed on Amazon Bedrock. The solution combines AWS Trainium servers and Cerebras CS-3 systems. AWS plans to offer open-source and Amazon Nova models using Cerebras hardware later this year. This comes amid Amazon's reported $37 billion bond sale to fund its $200 billion AI infrastructure expansion.

MHADA staff suspended after ₹5.7 crore rent scam in Mumbai

A former Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) rent collector, Jagdish P Dharmik, allegedly siphoned off ₹5.70 crore from tenants between 2015 and 2023, a MHADA property manager alleged. Investigations revealed 8,658 receipts missing and 3,368 showing discrepancies. Dharmik was suspended, and an FIR has been registered at Dadar Police Station, with further probes ongoing.

India-bound LPG tanker Shivalik, escorted by the Indian Navy, crossed the Strait of Hormuz amid the blockade due to the Middle East war, reports said. Shivalik had arrived in Qatari ⁠waters on February 25. It had reported on March 12 that it was within the exclusive economic zone waters close to the UAE. Its reported cargo capacity is 54,000 tonnes.

Foreigners stuck in India get visa extensions, overstay penalty relief amid Gulf war

The government announced a visa extension and waiver of the overstay penalty for foreigners who are stranded in India due to the Middle East war. "All types of visas/e-visas expiring/due for expiry soon would be extended for a month on gratis basis, for the affected nationals by jurisdictional FRROs on a case-to-case basis," Consulate General of India, Dubai's notice stated.

Five US Air Force refuelling planes were hit on the ground in Saudi Arabia in a strike carried out by Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported citing two US officials.
