US Energy Secy claims US Navy escorted oil tanker through Strait of Hormuz, deletes post later

In a post on Tuesday, US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright claimed that the US Navy had successfully escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz amid Iran's blockade, however, he later deleted the post. "A video clip was deleted from Secretary Wright's official X account after it was determined to be incorrectly captioned by...staff," a spokesperson said.

UPSC 2025 toppers' marks revealed, Anuj Agnihotri scored 1,071

UPSC has released the marks obtained in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 by the recommended candidates. Anuj Agnihotri secured AIR 1 with a total of 1,071 marks, including 867 marks in the written examination and 204 in the personality test. Rajeshwari Suve M secured AIR 2 with 1,067 marks. Akansh Dhull ranked AIR 3 with 1,057 marks.

BMC begins cutting 45,000 trees for coastal road project in Mumbai

The BMC has begun cutting over 45,000 mangroves for the Coastal Road North (Versova-Bhayandar Link Road) project near two locations, Mindspace in Malad and Ambarnath Tower near Versova. A total of 9,000 mangroves will be permanently removed, while others will be replanted at different locations, a civic official said. This comes amid protests against the removal of mangroves.

90 lakh women removed from Maharashtra's 'Ladki Bahin Yojana'

Nearly 90 lakh women have been removed from Maharashtra's 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana', NDTV reported. The beneficiaries under the scheme have now reduced from a peak of over 2.6 crore applicants to 1.53 crore. The state government said that they'll save over ₹17,000 crore by excluding women who exceed the ₹2.5 lakh annual income limit and own a four-wheeler.

India eases FDI rules for investments from China, other neighbouring countries

Under the new norms, investment proposals from these countries in specified sectors will be processed within 60 days.
