Maharashtra govt revokes 5% quota for SEBC Muslims

The Maharashtra government has revoked the proposed 5% quota for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) Muslim communities. The quota approved through an ordinance by the Congress-NCP government just before the 2014 Assembly elections collapsed because the ordinance wasn't made into a law. Earlier, the Bombay High Court had stayed the government jobs reservation part of the quota.

Peru's President impeached after just 4 months in office

Salman's father Salim Khan put on ventilator after surgery, condition is stable: Doctor

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Salman Khan, has undergone surgery and is now being kept on a ventilator, Dr Jalil Parkar from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital said.
