RBI scraps 9,445 circulars, issues consolidated 244 directions

RBI has repealed 9,445 circulars and consolidated rules into 244 Master Directions across 11 types of regulated entities to ease regulatory framework. Of the total repealed circulars, around 3,800 were consolidated into master circulars, while the rest were withdrawn for being obsolete. The process included all regulations issued over several decades since 1940, RBI Deputy Governor SC Murmu said.

Scientists have discovered a 37,000-year-old fossil bamboo in Manipur's Imphal Valley, with ghostly marks of long-vanished thorns. "This is the first fossil evidence that thorniness in bamboo—a defence against herbivores—was already present in Asia during the Ice Age," they said.
