UP records highest electricity consumption in India on Diwali

Uttar Pradesh set a new record in power consumption this Diwali, surpassing all other states with 1,490 lakh units used in 24 hours, according to Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre (NRLDC). Kolkata shows lower pollution levels a day after Diwali

Despite customary Diwali smog that enveloped the city, Kolkata fared better in terms of pollution compared to other urban centres. According to data by central authorities, AQI at midnight on Monday was 227 in Victoria Memorial area, 190 in Bidhannagar, 166 in Ballygunge, and 198 in Jadavpur. Delhi records worst post-Diwali air in 4 years; PM2.5 hits 675

Delhi recorded its worst post-Diwali air quality in four years on Tuesday, with PM2.5 levels peaking at 675, officials said.
