Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that singer Zubeen Garg died while swimming without wearing a life jacket in Singapore. Zubeen went swimming without a life jacket despite lifeguards insisting he should wear one, Sarma said. He added that 18 people, including Zubeen, went on a yacht trip and swim, and the singer was later found floating.

Heavy rainfall warning issued for several states, list released

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued heavy rainfall warning for several states for September 21 (Sunday). It is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The IMD also stated that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely over parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Sunday.

Indian IT industry body issues 1st statement as Trump hikes H-1B visa fee by 9,900%

India's primary IT industry body NASSCOM said US President Donald Trump's H-1B visa fee hike will "severely impact" Indian tech firms, while also raising concern about the one-day deadline for implementation.
