'Homebound' picked as India's official entry for Oscars 2026

Director Neeraj Ghaywan's 'Homebound', which stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor, has been announced as India's official entry for Oscar awards 2026. The Hindi film is a contender in the Best International Feature category. Produced by Karan Johar, the film received a nine-minute standing ovation when it premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2025.

Assam Rifles truck attacked in Manipur, 2 jawans killed in action

At least two jawans of the Assam Rifles were killed in action as a truck carrying them came under attack at Nambol Sabal Leikai in Manipur's Bishnupur district, officials said on Friday. Around four other jawans were injured in the ambush by armed miscreants, reports said. This is the first deadly attack on central forces since last year in Manipur.

Russian jets breach Estonia's airspace for 12 minutes, NATO & EU respond

NATO member Estonia said three Russian jets violated its airspace for 12 minutes. NATO said it intercepted the jets, calling it "another example of reckless Russian behaviour." EU Vice-President Kaja Kallas called it an "extremely dangerous provocation" and said, "(Russian President Vladimir) Putin is testing the West's resolve." Russian drones violated Poland's and Romania's airspaces recently.

Encounter breaks out between Army and terrorists in J&K

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar area on Friday. "In an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Kishtwar, alert troops of #WhiteKnightCorps established contact with terrorists at around 8 pm on September 19. Exchange of fire took place. Indian IT industry body issues 1st statement as Trump hikes H-1B visa fee by 9,900%

India's primary IT industry body NASSCOM said US President Donald Trump's H-1B visa fee hike will "severely impact" Indian tech firms, while also raising concern about the one-day deadline for implementation.
