New WhoFi tech tracks people without device, phone or camera

Researchers at La Sapienza University of Rome have developed WhoFi, a technology that leverages Wi-Fi signals to uniquely identify and track people based on how their bodies alter wireless channels. Unlike traditional tracking, WhoFi requires no phone, device, or camera. The system demonstrated an accuracy rate of up to 95.5% in identifying individuals.

Columbia University to pay $200 million in settlement with Trump administration

Columbia University has agreed to pay $200 million over the next three years to the Donald Trump administration to resolve claims that it discriminated against Jewish students. The University will also pay $21 million to settle investigations brought by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Delhi recorded its cleanest July in a decade, with the capital’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) dropping to 67 on Wednesday, according to data released by the Central Pollution Control Board. A new Lancet study found that walking 7,000 steps a day may be enough to protect against multiple diseases. Compared to 2,000 steps, it reduces overall death risk by 47%, cardiovascular disease by 25% and dying from cancer by 37%. According to the study, it lowers risks for type 2 diabetes by 14%, dementia by 38%, and depression by 22%.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Gaza is suffering from man-made mass starvation due to the blockade imposed by Israel. Ration cards to be cancelled if unused for 6 months

The Centre has amended existing public distribution system norms. The ration cards of beneficiaries who haven't availed of their entitlements in past six months will be cancelled. The state government will conduct field verification and complete e-KYC within three months to reassess eligibility and take further action. Further, e-KYC has been mandated for holders of ration cards every five years.
