Geisler’s Riki sat quietly, idly spinning a spoon between his fingers, occasionally glancing around. His blond hair was slightly messy, like he rushed getting there. Not long after, Velthrone’s Jay pulled out a chair and dropped into the seat across from him.
“Man, I’m starving,” Velthrone’s Jay muttered, already reaching for the tongs. Geisler’s Riki looked up, a faint smile forming. “I’ve been waiting, you know. Could’ve at least pretended to greet me first.” Velthrone’s Jay smirked. “Yeah, yeah. Got held up. You should’ve just started without me.” “As if,” Geisler’s Riki shook his head. “You’d complain anyway.”
The meat hit the grill with a soft sizzle, the aroma instantly filling the space between them. Geisler’s Riki casually flipped a few slices while Velthrone’s Jay prepared the plates. After a moment, Velthrone’s Jay glanced at him. “You look tired.” “Just a long day,” Geisler’s Riki replied simply. “Here,” Velthrone’s Jay slid a plate toward him. “Eat first. Don’t act tough.”
A quiet chuckle escaped Geisler’s Riki. “Yes, my bro.” For a while, they ate and talked about random things small jokes, light conversations, the kind that didn’t need much effort. Then Velthrone’s Jay’s phone rang. He stood up and stepped aside to take it. Meanwhile, Geisler’s Riki stayed seated, occasionally looking out the window at the city lights flickering in the distance.
