I just finished watching Christspiracy. The show revolved around the question…. “How would Jesus kill an animal?”
The questions that come to my mind are:
(And I believe that everybody on this chat is aware that animals raised in wicked conditions, industrial meat facilities, and the use of poisons is unnatural and toxic.
So my questions are based on the presupposition that we are talking about Joel Salatin‘s model, or wild/hunting/fishing.)
1. Is eating animal products unnatural?
2. Are animal products unhealthy?
3. Are animals the only living things that are sentient? Are plants sentient as well?
4. Do animals living in a “natural” environment experience PTSD? Is their desire to stay alive “spiritually” driven or is it simply a function and strategy of evolution/God’s design?
And when I look at the natural world, the world designed by “God”, I see that virtually all hoofed animals, fish etc, living in a natural and healthy ecosystem are, at the ends of their lives, food for another living creature. It’s obviously silly to think that lions should be eating vegetables, or that lions are somehow evil.
I feel that there is a divine order to things, and we are here to be the stewards. and for the record, I’ve never resonated with the word (“dominion”.)
What does “steward” mean? It means to care for and keep balance.
And we have seen by examples like the re-introduction of wolves into Yellowstone… The ecosystem needed the predators in order to thrive.
We are way out of balance. And this is a direct result of the influence of “evil”.
I was a vegan. I ate really good food, I lost a bunch of weight and I didn’t feel good.
Did I simply do it wrong? Maybe.
I do imagine a day, however, in which balance is restored, and there will be food forests everywhere. Which of course include a lot of animals.
Stewardship… From time to time we will observe that a particular thing is out of balance, and we will be called to help restore balance. We are the top of the food chain.
I imagine a day where I will be nourished sufficiently by the frequency, energy and vibration of this incredible place. A place where anything is possible, because anything is possible in the mind of “God.”
I have studied and even met people who don’t eat anything, and they thrive. I enjoy fruits too much, at least at the moment, to go that extreme, but I do imagine a day in which food is not needed, but only for enjoyment. At that time, I will have no desire, or need, to kill...
