Those who are having humanities Optional, irrespective of your Preperation level and stage join the masters programme from IGNOU or any other University.
You will manage the exam with some days of Preperation or even with just upsc preparation and will be eligible for UGC NET. It will help you get a backup in future.

PhD qualification for appointment as an Assistant Professor is now optional.

( Any subject which you feel can be managed easily should be opted for pursuing Masters, and advisable to do it in correspondence to have least impact on your UPSC preparation)

One can also pursue B.Ed.
Many colleges allow one to remain absent from the college and just appear for the exam.
In coming years there will be huge rise in Vacancies for teachers due to NEP 2020 (recently Bihar has published good number of vacancies)

Everyone wants to clear the exam, but most people won't clear it ( no matter how hard you try). It's better to make some effort which can prove helpful in worst case scenario.
