Forwarded from Canticle of Heaven's Paradox: Hjërt.
It was a Saturday morning and I, Hjërt’s Yeonjun, found myself sipping the iced coffee I had prepared. If I may report to dearest angels, I had found two mercies to be grateful for.
First of all, the coffee I made. It turned out rather good—no small feat, I assure you, for not every homemade brew can boast the same. The second one, the cup I used. It had the good manners not to gather condensation along its sides, sparing my fingers the trouble of dampening the page I had just turned. A trifling concern to most, perhaps, yet readers do understand the importance of keeping their pages dry.
It was a bright Saturday morning, and I found myself spending it in a park, in the company of Cherrilane’s Jaehyun.
Before any misunderstanding comes up, we were not there trying to appear aesthetic or performative. Not at all. It is merely something we do from time to time—not quite a habit, though near enough to one. A pastime, perhaps, or, if one prefers a more honest name, a modest escape once life begins moving a little too (cough) ah, adulthood... that genre again!
The idea, I should add, belonged to Jaehyun the afternoon before, and I must say, he had been entirely right; for the morning had a completeness to it. Imagine, a bicycle ride through the park, a lungful of fresh air, and a comfortable place to pause before everything fell into its places.
Before long, my attention drifted to Jaehyun, only to find his already meeting mine. He smiled, just enough for his dimples to appear, and for a moment it felt as though we shared the same gratitude. Oh, angels, I had already found the third thing to be grateful for.
