“So, what do you think?” Jesse asked. “That was a lot of things to grasp, wasn’t it?”
He closed the book, so gently and full of love that as if it was his own newborn baby. “The story hasn’t ended yet—it’ll just never be. You see, every year the Hearsts get to write their own stories on this book, so my best guess is, by the end of this year, you’ll hear a completely different story from now.”
“True,” Eirlys added from the back. “But Momma always says,”
“Enjoy the present, for you won’t be able to experience it twice.” Three of the siblings said in unison.
“Great!” Jesse cheered. “Lunchtime is near. Shall we go down and see what Momma is making? My other sisters are probably there too. They make the most delicious food in this whole world.”
And so, you followed Jesse, Eirlys, and Abbie leaving the treehouse. It was such an inspiring and insightful experience to you. Though you were merely a guest, they treated you just as kind as you were their own family member.
Family of Hearst, you thought to yourself. Now I get what it means to be a family. You don’t give your love only to those who share the same blood with you; but literally, to everyone. Because we, at the end of the day, are all a family.
The End. ⋆。˚🌿
