My sincerest apologies for the late warning.

Hi fur friends!

I would like to personally apologize for the lack of a bowling meet this month.

We had a small security concern that we wanted to have fully understood before the meet, and as expected the bowling alley has been completely interested in working with us and we can't thank them enough.

Unfortunately, due to some phone issues this took a little longer than hoped and so it looks like we'll be better off just getting back on schedule on the second Saturday in September.

Thank you for understanding.
There will not be a pizza meet this month. Anthro SouthEast has made it so that there are no admins available to host, and there isn't another weekend to change it to.

I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
Our monthy bowling meet will be this Saturday (Nov 9th) at 8PM. As usual it will be at Bowlero off 280.

Come out and enjoy meeting up with tons of other furries!

The January bowling meet is subject to being postponed due to the nasty weather system predicted for this Saturday. We'll likely be making a decision tomorrow.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience. We are postponing the bowling meet a week due to the potential for severe weather this Saturday.

Be sure to have your plan in place, and know of a safe place to go as tornadoes are possible. Flooding is also likely.

If you've experienced flu-like symptoms, please skip this meet.
Fur friends,

While our area has, so far, been unaffected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the MCF admins have been in discussions about our preparedness for the virus and it's highly contagious nature.

https://www.sciencealert.com/new-research-says-the-average-incubation-time-for-the-coronavirus-is-5-1-days

The current knowledge is that it has an average of 5 days after infection before symptoms begin, meaning that an individual can be infected, and it be completely without symptoms for that time. Data still is thin on if the virus can be spread during that period, but it's possible and reports exist of people transmitting it while asymptomatic.

None of this is meant to cause panic as that won't change how much or how little we are affected in the Birmingham area. But knowledge is important.

Due to this, and the close proximity of known cases to our state (although currently no known cases exist inside of Alabama) we are going to suspend meets until things are better understood.

I'm extremely sorry for the discomfort this may cause.

While the virus doesn't appear to be too much more dangerous than the flu to most healthy adults, children and especially the elderly are at great risk. That means even a person with a healthy immune system can carry it back to their home where more vulnerable persons may be.

Mortality rates range from 2-3.5% however, by the last counts in Italy it has been as high as 6%. So basically, if everyone at one of our bowling meets were to contract the virus (admittedly, it wouldn’t be likely that every last person would catch it) then up to 3 of those could end in death (using the Italian numbers.)

We also have to accept that many of us visit conventions and events in other states, and at any time could come into contact with the virus.

The absolute best defense that we have against this virus is limiting the chances for it to transfer from person to person, and large gatherings of people are the worst possible practice considering that goal. This is why E3 has cancelled, the NCAA is likely to cancel their entire basketball tournament schedules for this year, and unfortunately, I expect most conventions to cancel if things spread as well.

Hopefully this entire thing blows over soon, and turns out to be absolutely nothing to worry about. That would be the best outcome, and we will feel no shame if it turns out that we’ve “jumped the gun.” Better that, than to contribute to a national problem.

Please feel free to talk with me or any of the other Admins about the subject. I only ask that you stay respectful in doing such. Try to realize that even if this is all being overly cautious, it’s done out of care and concern, not malice.

Thank you for understanding. We will be regular with updates so that as soon as we feel it’s wise to resume events, you’ll know.
