Matthew froze.

“I love you,” Lily continued, “but I’m tired of feeling alone while I’m standing right next to you. I think we need to break up.”

But one night, she finally asked, “If Ilysha came back, would you choose her over me?”

Sean didn’t answer.

That silence was enough.

Evelune smiled sadly and whispered, “I think I’ve been loving someone who’s still waiting for somebody else.”

The next morning, she left.
Sean wanted to stop her, but for once, Evelune chose not to stay where her heart would always feel like second place.

“I spent years waiting for you,” she told him quietly. “And now that you finally have me, you keep treating me like something you can pick up whenever you want.”

Sean had no answer.

Maelys smiled sadly. “I wanted you for so long, Sean. But I don’t want to keep wanting someone who only loves me when it’s convenient.”

“Forgive me, Mae..”

And this time, she was the one who let go.

And somehow, he still fell for Sean.

Sean accepted his feelings, and eventually, they became a couple. For the first time, Sean seemed genuinely happy. But Aca slowly realized that Sean hadn’t really changed.

He still carried pieces of every person he’d lost.

Sometimes Sean would stare at old messages from Ilysha. Sometimes he’d mention Evelune without realizing it. And whenever Maelys’s name came up, Sean would suddenly go quiet.

Aca didn’t want to become another name on that list.

So one night, he finally asked, “Am I someone you actually love, Sean… or am I just the next person you’re trying to forget everyone with?”

Sean couldn’t answer.

And Aca realized that maybe knowing Sean’s past wasn’t enough.
He had to decide whether he was willing to become part of it.
