As a gamer (By my experience)
Pricey games can be downloaded and played cracked, modded or hacked versions.
But something dosen't feel right... Isn't it?
Its because the game you play is not 100% genuine. So, something feels off as the saving system is altered or the game might be glitchy or the server might not serve your game or it dosen't give the feel of genuineness.
The real shock and fun is there when you get a pricey game for free...
