Pada 28 Agustus 2025, ribuan warga tumpah ruah di sekitar Gedung DPR/MPR menentang kebijakan tunjangan rumah mewah anggota parlemen senilai Rp 50 juta per bulan, jumlah yang jauh melampaui upah minimum pekerja. Aksi damai itu berubah menjadi bentrokan setelah aparat menyalakan kekerasan dengan gas air mata dan water cannon. Tragedi semakin dalam saat rantis Brimob melindas seorang pengemudi ojek online hingga tewas. Penangkapan massal pun dilakukan, ratusan orang ditahan termasuk 196 pelajar. [] Demo tertib yang dilakukan di Jakarta (28/08) berubah menjadi anarkis setelah polisi dengan sengaja melindas dan membunuh supir ojol (taxi bike) dengan kendaraan taktis (RANTIS) milik BRIMOB. Tidak hanya itu, polisi juga turut menyerang tim medis yang sedang mengobati korban luka dan melemparkan gas air mata ke arah warga sipil yang berada di stasiun kereta. CCTV di kawasan sekitar kejadian dimatikan sehingga tidak ada bukti CCTV, tapi masyarakat mengabadikan dan menyebarkan banyak bukti kekerasan polisi yang terjadi.
