Bitfinex Steps up Hunt For Its Hackers, Promises USD 400m In Rewards
Major crypto exchange Bitfinex has offered a multi-million dollar reward to anyone who can lead it to the hackers responsible for the the theft of nearly bitcoin (BTC) 120,000 in August 2016 - even to the hackers themselves.
Today's value of the bitcoin stolen from Bitfinex four years ago is around USD 1.34bn.
"The aggregate rewards available under this programme could be worth up to approximately USD 400 million at the current BTC price if all bitcoins are fully recovered," the company said, adding that the hackers themselves will also be rewarded for returning the stolen property.
"We will reward anyone with information that can put us in direct contact with those responsible for the 2016 security breach at Bitfinex. ... The hackers will receive a share of the returned property," Paolo Ardoino, Chief Technology Officer at Bitfinex said.
The company added that "the bitcoins stolen minus recoveries in 2019 are worth USD 1.344 billion today, with 30 per cent of that amount equal to USD 403,288,427."
The reward will be given once the identity of the hackers is confirmed. These informants will get 5% of the total property recovered or "equivalent funds or assets at current market values." The hackers themselves can get their reward if they return the stolen bitcoin, and their share will be 25%.
"Any payments made to those connecting Bitfinex will work to ensure this can be done securely, thereby protecting the identities of all parties, and Bitfinex reserves the right to impose conditions on any transfers in order to verify claims and ensure a secure process," they added.
On August 2, 2016, hackers made 2,072 unauthorized transactions, representing BTC 119,755 in aggregate. As part of Bitfinex’s recovery plan, they provided BFX tokens to all affected users, with each token representing USD 1 of losses. The investigation into the breach by law enforcement is ongoing.

Goldman Sachs Sees ‘Resurgence of Interest’ in Crypto from Institutions
There is currently a “resurgence of interest” in cryptocurrencies, but this time around it’s not from retail investors, but rather the financial institutions, the new head of digital assets at investment banking giant Goldman Sachs revealed in a recent interview.
Mathew McDermott, the recently appointed head of digital assets at the investment bank, told CNBC that the bank has “definitely seen an uptick in interest across some of our institutional clients who are exploring how they can participate” in the crypto space. He added that it feels like there is “a resurgence of interest in cryptocurrencies” from this segment.
As previously reported, US-based major digital asset manager Grayscale recorded its largest quarterly inflows in the second quarter, saying that it reflects a rapidly growing demand for digital assets, as investors increasingly look to diversify their portfolios amid aggressive monetary and fiscal intervention resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. Also, a US-based major software company MicroStrategy said recently that it may invest part of its cash into bitcoin (BTC) and other alternative investments, citing “negative real yield on US dollars.”
Meanwhile, London-based McDermott also revealed in the interview that he plans to significantly step up Goldman’s efforts in the crypto and blockchain space, doubling his team’s headcount across Europe and Asia.
Also, the investment banker has its own vision for financial markets, where all assets reside on a blockchain:
“In the next five to 10 years, you could see a financial system where all assets and liabilities are native to a blockchain, with all transactions natively happening on chain. So what you’re doing today in the physical world, you just do digitally, creating huge efficiencies,” McDermott told CNBC, adding that this could include things like “debt issuances, securitization, loan origination.”
“Essentially you’ll have a digital financial markets ecosystem, the options are pretty vast,” the 46-year-old banker said.
McDermott also revealed that Goldman is currently “exploring the commercial viability” of developing a “fiat digital token” of its own, like its competitor JP Morgan has already done with the JPM Coin. He also said that Goldman has been able to lure over JP Morgan’s former head of digital assets strategy, Oli Harris, who is known to have been involved with the JPM Coin project.
However, the executive added that Goldman Sachs is still early in the process of exploring such a coin, and that it continues to “work through the potential use cases” of it.

Bitcoin’s realized price exceeds 6k for the first time!
BTC realized price is the value of all coins in circulation at the price they last moved, in other words an approximation of what the entire market paid for their coins
Market Cap = each bitcoin in circulation is multiplied by the current price
Realized Cap = each bitcoin in circulation is multiplied by the price at the time it last moved
Realized Price = realized cap / circulating supply

Andre Cronje commented on a recent article published on Decrypt:
"... don't talk to reporters when you are angry,"
"there is truth in the article, but it is a lot more sensationalist than the full picture,"
"don't talk to a reporter just before going to sleep."
"Lastly, I learned my lesson back in March, I made the active decision to continue and work through whatever comes my way. I might hate it more often than not, but its not going to stop me. This space won't get rid of me, until there is nothing left to build"

Looks like BTC is printing a bullish re-accumulation formation - Bullish Pennant at the topside resistance from the weekly timeframe
And seems like we had the same formation in May 2019
Just compare these two market structures and you will find out that they look very similar:
Same rejection by 0.236 Fib in both cases, same Flash Crash after a higher high (2)
And on the whole, the Fib levels have been pretty much respected by both pieces of price action
No major reversal until 11k is broken, but going below 0.236 Fib (11.4k) on the closing basis would be concerning for the bulls

The Bitcoin 4 year bull/bear cycle is caused by sell pressure reduction every 4 years by the BTC halvening. That impulse creates a resonance, like a slosh of water in a bath tub when you push it timed just right. The magic happens at the impulse.

BTC UPDATE 📈
Finally something interesting. Closed the GAP which was formed during weekends. At the moment the price is staying at the trend support.
There was no new high formed. Our BTC are still on hold, nothing serious didn’t happen.
Now we expect the price to try to break the horizontal resistance at the third time.

Chinese Province Says It Will Nurture 20 Blockchain Companies by 2022
Hebei Province, China, has embarked on an ambitious three-year blockchain development plan – and has pledged to foster 20 “leading” blockchain firms by 2022.
Per Shanghai Securities News, the plans were unveiled by the IT arm of the Hebei Communist Party of China Provincial Committee Secretary.
The authority stated that its goals for the end of 2022 were the following:
-establish 20 “leading” blockchain-related firms
-foster a number of blockchain apps and/or products
-create 1-3 nationally recognized blockchain brands
-create three blockchain parks
The province also announced a regional research push, focusing on blockchain-related R&D.
It also announced its intention to collaborate with innovators based elsewhere in the country, co-build a blockchain industry technology innovation alliance – and work with overseas-based innovators. The province also wants local firms to begin creating blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) offerings.
The local government said that it would look to support progress by implementing pro-business policies and provide financial support.
The move follows similar pledges from other provinces and major cities made earlier this year. Guizhou and Hunan provinces made their own pledges last month, with the former vowing to nurture some 100 locally bases blockchain firms by 2022. Hunan said it will construct five blockchain-specific tech parks by 2022.
Beijing, meanwhile, has promised to create a blockchain technology talent training authority in the same time period, as well as a city-run fund that will invest in promising blockchain firms.
