✴️Hong-Kong to ban Crypto for retail investor?

🔹The proposed legislation was outlined last November, and preceded a three-month consultation with members of the industry, which has just concluded. The bill as drafted will establish a license to require all providers of cryptomoney-related services to register with the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

🔹So far nothing new, as Hong Kong has already decided to get rid of its rather flexible regulatory framework to better monitor exchanges. What is new, however, is that this law would require providers to offer their services "only to professional investors". This would therefore de facto prevent individuals located in Hong Kong from trading in cryptomoney via traditional platforms.

🔹Peer-to-Peer (P2P) trading will not be affected by this proposed law. However, if it were to be accepted, it would effectively cut off the majority of investors, as individuals would largely turn to regulated exchanges for their purchases of crypto. A "professional" investor is, according to the Hong Kong government, a person with a portfolio of more than 8 million Hong Kong dollars.

NVIDIA, the computer company known for its chips and graphics cards, has announced a new GPU specifically geared toward mining Ethereum cryptocurrency.

Graphics cards like NVIDIA’s are notoriously difficult to get a hold of, in part because they’re so in demand for professional crypto miners.

By intentionally lowering the computing power of the RTX 3060, and launching a new processor designed specifically for pro miners, NVIDIA is hoping to address those shortages.
