Hi, Calties and Duisie! So it's me—Caltbern's Sakuya, literally clueless what to do at home. Just scrolling my phone, laying around, and starin' at the sky like a bored potato. Then suddenly i was like, "Nah, let's do something fun." So i hit up my friend—Duisterg's Juhoon to play basketball with me, and suprisingly he said yes right away. Honestly, i thought we'd just throw some shots, then sit and talk while enjoying the evening breeze. But turns out, it became a real sparring game. We laughed so much, esp when the ball flew into the middle of the street and Juhoon fell twice while trying to chase it, LOL. He's such a fighter tho, never wants to give up. So yeah, guess who gave up first? (it's me, duh). Super exhausting, but so fun! Definitely gonna run it back soon. Who tryna pull up and join us next time?????

Police Brutality in Jakarta Protests (Killing of Civilians and Suppression of Democracy) has sparked nationwide outrage. On August 28, 2025, thousands of workers and students gathered in Jakarta to demand fair wages, labor reforms, and an end to lawmakers’ excessive privileges. Instead of protection, the police responded with extreme violence—deploying tear gas, water cannons, brute force, and armored vehicles. Over 150 were injured, more than 400 arrested, and one civilian was tragically killed after being run over by a Brimob vehicle.
The protest was centered on the workers’ key demands under “HOSTUM: Hapus Outsourcing, Tolak Upah Murah” (Abolish Outsourcing, Reject Low Wages):
• End unfair outsourcing – workers can spend years at a company without security, benefits, or stability. They demand outsourcing be banned for core business functions.

Reports even point to attempts to cover up evidence, including shutting down CCTV in the protest area—normalizing impunity and authoritarian control.
The brutality during this protest is allegedly linked to systemic practices:

Blair (@annra), gua ngerti dari luar demo keliatannya ribut, chaos, bahkan keliatan useless. Tapi jujur ngomong demo gak guna itu simplifikasi banget, lu harus liat esensinya dulu. Demo itu bukan cuma soal rame-rame turun ke jalan, itu adalah bentuk real dari constitutional rights kita. Hak untuk berkumpul, menyampaikan pendapat dan nge-push pemerintah biar inget kalau kekuasaan mereka itu berasal dari rakyat, bukan kebalikannya. Gua ikut turun sendiri dan percaya sama gua, itu jauh dari sekedar fomo. Orang-orang yang turun rela kepanasan, kehausan bahkan dipukulin aparat, bukan karena pengen gaya tapi karena udah muak. Kalau rakyat diem aja, yang ada abuse of power makin jadi-jadi.
Memang benar, kadang isu melebar, kadang arahnya keliatan kabur. Tapi that's how social movement works, keresahan yang numpuk pasti tumpah sekaligus. Di kelas kita belajar 'rule of law' tapi di lapangan yang berlaku malah 'rule by power' dan kalau gak ada yang berani speak up, hukum bakal terus jadi teks indah di buku tanpa arti di real life.
So please, jangan gampang ngecap demo gak guna. Karena justru dari demo-demo kaya gini, pressure ke pemerintah bisa muncul. It may not change things instantly, but it builds momentum and without momentum, perubahan gak akan pernah ada.

and how exactly can you decide that this isn’t the right place for it? temen-temen kita tertindas disana, take to the streets with nothing but their voices, are beaten down, silenced with fists and drowned in clouds of tear gas. mereka butuh bantuan, mereka butuh bantuan medis. mereka butuh untuk mencari kerabat-kerabatnya. if you feel like there’s nothing you can really do about it directly, then at the very least just spread it across every platform you’ve got. not everyone has the chance to be out there on the ground, but using your space online to keep the word moving is already a way of showing up and not letting the silence win.
kalau-kalau kurang berkenan, don’t turn yourself into the excuse someone uses to go quiet, to stop speaking out, or to give up on chasing justice. the world already has enough walls trying to shut people down—don’t become another one of them. instead, let people feel like their words still matter, like their voices still carry weight no matter how small they think they are.
