🅾️ The theme of BRICS Summit is BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism.
🅾️ The BRICS grouping comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
🅾️BRICS represent over 42 percent of the global population, 23 percent of world GDP, and 18 percent of global trade.
🟩There will also be talk on BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue event that will be held as part of the BRICS Summit activities in Johannesburg.

🔵 What is BRICS PLUS ?
• mooted by China in 2017 (Xiamen Summit)
• objective of widening the "circle of friends" of BRICS through outreach activities with emerging markets and developing countries of the Global SOUTH
👉It involved inviting a few countries from different regions. For example: South Africa emulated it, with representation of five nations of its choice.The countries were Argentina, Jamaica, Turkey, Indonesia and Egypt.
👉An immediate benefit of BRICS Plus is the opportunities it provides for networking among leaders.
However, the precise role of “BRICS Plus” countries will take time to evolve.
👉And for this, we have to keep tab on ongoing BRICS Summit at South Africa✅️

👉Subsequent to South Africa having hosted this BRICS Outreach Dialogue between BRICS and African Leaders, all the BRICS members have also hosted an outreach dialogue on the margins of their respective Summits.
👉In this regard, South Africa has determined that an Outreach will again be held on the margins of the Summit with African leaders to ensure both continuity from the 5th BRICS Summit in eThekwini in 2013 and BRICS support for African industrialisation and infrastructure development.

The United States of America's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine for use in women during pregnancy to protect the baby.

🔵This vaccine has been developed by Pfizer and the approval allows the vaccine to be given to women 32 to 36 weeks into pregnancy for prevention of lower respiratory tract infection and severe disease in infants until they are six months old.
🔵 The vaccine developer has said that maternal vaccination could prevent a large number of hospitalizations due to RSV.
🔵The syncytial virus is said to be a common cause of illness in children, while infants are those at the highest risk for severe disease.
