βοΈWhat is Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) ?
πIt is a scheme by the Government of India to support exporters.
πSimple meaning:
It means refund of hidden taxes and duties that exporters pay during production but cannot claim back otherwise.
βοΈWhy is it needed?
When a product is made for export, many taxes are involved:
a) State taxes on fuel (like VAT on diesel)
b) Electricity duties
c) Embedded taxes in raw materials
π They increase the cost of exports
π Make Indian products less competitive globally
βοΈWhat RoDTEP does:
πThe scheme refunds these unrebated taxes to exporters.
πRefund is given as a percentage of export value
Credited as transferable duty credit scrips (now mostly electronic credits)
π₯For Eg-
Suppose an exporter makes shirts:
Pays electricity duty, fuel tax, etc.
Exports shirts worth βΉ1 lakh
If RoDTEP rate = 3%
π Exporter gets βΉ3,000 back
π₯Points to be noted π
It is a WTO-compliant export incentive scheme
Replaces earlier scheme: MEIS (Merchandise Exports from India Scheme)
πObjective: Neutralize hidden taxes and Boost exports

What is PM Gati Shakti ?
In simple terms :-
βThink of it like Google Maps for infrastructure planning.β
βοΈBefore:
1. Ministries worked in silos.
Example:
Road department builds road
Dug again for pipelines
Electricity dept digs it later
Water dept digs again
πNo communication which leads to waste of time & money. So, projects delayed, cost increased
π₯What Gati Shakti does:
1. One Digital Platform (GIS-based)
πShows everything on one map:
Roads
Railways
Ports
Pipelines
Power lines
π All ministries see the same data
2. Coordination between ministries
Railways, highways, telecom etc. plan together
π No duplication, no conflict
3. Faster project execution
Problems identified early; Clearances faster; Delays reduced
4. Better logistics
Smooth movement of goods and reduced cost of transport
πGati Shakti does NOT build projects
πIt helps plan and coordinate them efficiently
βοΈBook language π
PM Gati Shakti is a GIS-based platform for integrated infrastructure planning and coordination across ministries.
