Future of Mobility: India’s Journey towards Net Zero

👉The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) recently organized a highly anticipated conference on “Future of Mobility: India’s Journey towards Net Zero” in New Delhi. The event was attended by the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the importance of sustainable mobility for India’s future.

⭕️Current State of Affairs in India’s Energy Requirements

👉The conference emphasized the significance of transportation in a nation’s growth.

🎯It highlighted its significance as a cornerstone for infrastructure development.

🎯 In India, 85% of energy needs are met through imported fossil fuels, consuming 30% of the world’s supply and costing 1.6 trillion rupees.

🅾️ Importance of Sustainable Mobility :

👉 The future of mobility must be sustainable, both economically and ecologically, and the government is taking the necessary steps to make this a reality. Cost-effective, indigenous, and pollution-free fuels for transportation are being actively pursued, and the use of fuels such as ethanol, methanol, bio-CNG, bio-LNG, electric vehicles, bio-electric vehicles, hybrid EVs with flex fuel, and hydrogen fuel are being facilitated. ✅️

🏎️🛻Launch of India’s First Flex Engine Car :

👉Flex engines, which can run on either 100% bio ethanol or 100% petrol, hold great potential to increase agricultural income. The Minister recently launched India’s first flex engine car by Toyota and has set a target for the auto industry to develop the world’s first BS6-compliant flex engine and launch it in India.
🙏Mahatma Gandhi’s Legacy Honored on Martyrs’ Day

🩹Martyrs’ Day in India, also referred to as Shaheed Diwas or Sarvodaya Day, is a day remembrance for the brave souls who laid down their lives for their country’s independence.

⭕️  The most poignant of these days is January 30th, marking the death anniversary of the Mahatma Gandhi. A symbol of peace and non-violence, Bapu continues to be an inspiration to people all over the world.

🎯 The day is observed by the United Nations as the International Day of Non-Violence, highlighting the global significance of Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy.✅️

😶‍🌫️A Tribute to the Brave:

👉India observes Martyrs’ Day on 7 dates, each with its own significance. From Gandhi’s legacy of non-violence to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev’s bravery, India honors its heroes. Martyrs’ Day is also observed in Assam, Kashmir and Odisha, honoring those who lost their lives fighting for India’s independence. Each Martyrs’ Day serves as a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for India’s future.

🅾️January 30: Gandhi’s Legacy

🔵 The first Martyrs’ Day is observed on January 30th, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He is known as the “Father of the Nation” for his tireless work promoting peace and non-violence, which helped India gain independence from British colonisation. Bapu was assassinated in 1948 while he was promoting non-violence as a means of political and social progress.

👉March 23: Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev

The second most significant Martyrs’ Day is observed on March 23rd, the day when Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were hanged by the British in 1931. These three young freedom fighters were instrumental in achieving India’s independence, despite their different approach to revolution, which was marked by violence.

👉May 19: Silchar Railway Station

Martyrs’ Day is observed on May 19th in Assam to remember the 15 people who were killed by the state police at Silchar railway station in 1961. The event was part of the Bengali Language Movement, a protest against the Assam government’s decision to make Assamese the only official language of the state. The day is designated as Bhasha Shaheed Diwas or Language Martyrs’ Day.

👉July 13: Kashmir Martyrs’ Day

Jammu and Kashmir observes July 13th as Kashmir Martyrs’ Day to remember the 22 people who were killed by royal soldiers in 1931 while demonstrating against the rule of Maharaja Hari Singh of Kashmir.

👉November 17: Lala Lajpat Rai

Odisha observes November 17th as Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs’ Day to remember the famous freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai on his death anniversary. Also known as the “Lion of Punjab,” Lala Lajpat Rai played a crucial role in India’s independence, leading a non-violent protest against the Simon Commission in 1928. He died of a heart attack later that same year.
